How does a DNS server work?
Depending on who is doing the talking, DNS can mean either domain name server or domain name system. Although it has two definitions both of them have the same meaning. Each translation of DNS stands for the designation where information will be stored, or for a database of internet names and addresses that allow information to be routed from one place to another. The ultimate destination of any internet request is an IP address, but remembering an address like 12.178.176.233 for most people is difficult so they use an address like www.WebYourBusiness.com. The DNS will then act as a translator to the server and translate that into the desired IP Address. You can visit any site by typing in either but you will finder quicker results by typing in the actual IP address because they don’t have to go through the DNS.
